You receive the following email message from your CEO:
“I am really excited about expanding into Bigland and benefiting from the lucrative opportunities that it offers to VSC!
We would like you to build a financial model to show the financial impact of all the information that we have sent you. Here are some specific requests:
- Build the model within Excel and have separate worksheets to cover the Assumptions, Income statement, Financial position and Cash flow statement;
- Include each of the standard line items that you would typically present within the main body of a company’s Income statement, Financial position and Cash flow statement. There is no need to break this down into further detail.
- Keep everything nice and simple by avoiding the use of any complicated formulae;
- Start by modelling the organic growth of our existing business, without any impact of Bigland or the proposed fundraise;
- Then add in separate line items to show our forecast Bigland revenues, forecast Bigland costs and total financing costs throughout the period;
- The model should cover five years up to 31 December 20X7 and should show everything on a monthly basis; and
- Clearly identify the total funds required for VSC to deliver our business plan throughout the next five years.
Thanks,
Vanessa”
