Financial leaders have a fantastic opportunity to leverage from the external stakeholder relationships that you develop throughout your roles.
During this video extract, Andrew Waters provides some insightful examples of how these external relationships can help both yourself and your company:
Each of your external providers will have their own network. Many of these, such as your investors and advisors will be well-respected in the community and can be extremely influential.
Here are some examples of ways in which you can impress them and leverage from their influence:
- Consistently deliver high quality work;
- Become known for something;
- Prepare an elevator pitch;
- Say yes to relevant opportunities;
- Ask at least one question during every meeting that you attend;
- Take your brand across the organization;
- Create brand supporters;
- Promote yourself and others; and
- Understand that your tribe is your vibe.
Summary
Finance leaders should look for ways to leverage from your external relationships to help both your own personal brand and that of your company.
