Change management: Enable action by removing barriers
Dan Wells October 11, 2023
Change management leaders need to help your organizations navigate through times of change. To do this effectively, you need to be able to remove barriers that may prevent action from taking place. By doing so, you can create an environment that is conducive to change and enable your organization to achieve its objectives.
Common barriers
There are many barriers that change management leaders need to be aware of. One of the most common is resistance to change. This can come from a variety of sources, including employees who are comfortable with the status quo or who may feel threatened by the changes that are taking place. Change management leaders need to identify these sources of resistance and work to address them.
Another common barrier is a lack of understanding of the changes that are taking place. Change can be complex, and it can be difficult for employees to understand what is happening and why it is happening. Change management leaders need to ensure that employees have the information they need to understand the changes that are taking place. You also need to provide employees with the tools and resources they need to effectively adapt to the changes.
Finally, change management leaders need to be aware of the potential for conflict that can arise during times of change. Conflict can occur between employees who support the changes and those who oppose them. It can also occur within teams or departments that are affected by the changes. Change management leaders need to be prepared to address conflict if it arises.
Summary
By removing these barriers, change management leaders can help your organizations navigate through times of change and achieve your objectives.
